F5 Networks' Web Application Firewall solutions (WAFs) has been named a Leader in The Forrester Wave™: Web Application Firewalls, Q2 2018 report.
Highest scores for attack detection and attack response
The research report, authored by Forrester’s analyst Amy DeMartine, evaluated vendors on several criteria, including their current offering, product strategy and market presence. F5 got the highest scores for the attack detection and attack response criteria.

Out of ten Web Application Firewall vendors evaluated, F5 was one of three companies placing in the Leaders category.
WAF for application security and cloud deployments
According to Ram Krishnan, Senior Vice President and General Manager at F5 networks, application security is a priority because web applications are “consistently amongst the top attack targets for bad actors” and that F5’s goal is to provide comprehensive protection where it is needed most. He also mentions the importance of cloud security during cloud deployments. “The results of this report reflect the trust that F5 customers and vendors place in our WAF solutions to protect their applications on-premises and across public and hybrid cloud deployments”.
Web Application Firewalls (WAF) greatly reduce risks of breaches
In its press release, F5 Networks emphasizes the importance of WAFs being continually updated and that they should offer a variety of detection and response techniques: “WAFs have evolved into tools that can greatly reduce the risk of an application breach”.
Support praised by customers
In the report, F5’s multiple consumption models are cited including Managed Firewall services and self-managed offerings. The report mentions F5’s WAF appliance is advanced and it also calls out F5’s support service in its profile, noting “customers praised the support they receive from the company”.
