Network Engineer

Jurgen

Within Nomios, I am responsible for:

As a project engineer, I'm mainly responsible for designing and deploying network infrastructure solutions for our customers. This includes, but isn't limited to, creating HLD/LLDs, physical installation of hardware, migrate customer to new solution. Of course, each project is different and my tasks for each project are based on what has been sold to the customer.

I start my mornings with a fresh cup of:

with a glass of water and a protein shake. This to give my body the amino acids it needs to kickstart my day. It’s all about the mental and muscle Gainzzz of course.

The first thing I do when I’m at my computer is:

check my teams to see if any of my colleagues needs my immediate assistance on something. Afterwards, I'll check my email.

My typical day looks like:

The biggest aspect of my role is that I don’t have a typical day. My days are never the same. Some days I’m working with the customer to establish requirements, other days I might be creating high/low level designs and other days I’m working at night to migrate the customer to the new solutions.

The coolest part of my job is:

I would say that I get to work with the latest technology. This can be for a customer or for an internal training. Another cool part of my work is that I get to work with smart and knowledgeable people that are always happy to talk about their area of expertise.

I’d describe the culture at Nomios as:

very open and social. As the company is still relatively small, we have the benefit of running into each other throughout the day. This allows for genuine bonding which form more personal relationships. I’ve formed a lot of friendships at Nomios throughout the years.

I’d describe my colleagues at Nomios as:

Social, selfless, fun and knowledgeable!

The most memorable moment so far has been:

There have been plenty of moments throughout the years. The one that I still talk about to this day is the ski trips we had a few years back.

My top piece of career advice is:

never miss an opportunity to learn something new.

Project Manager

Bart

Within Nomios, I am responsible for:

defining the results I am delivering in projects. Delivering results for happy customers, hand in hand with happy colleagues, because happy people give the best results.

I start my mornings with a fresh cup of:

Yogi tea with an inspiring slogan for the day.

The first thing I do when I’m at my computer is:

Connecting the mouse for Rock’n Roll to gear up the teams tool to communicate with people.

My typical day looks like:

Be the first in the office, laptop on, emptying the dish-washer, reading the mail, opening teams for incoming messages, writing of a project proposal, agreement on mutual responsibilities delivering projects, prepare a steerco, phone a colleague.

The coolest part of my job is:

to work with enthusiasm with people to make technology work to enable business.

I’d describe the culture at Nomios as:

Informal and getting things done in short-sleeved shirts. In summer even short trousers could be an option when not customer-facing.

I’d describe my colleagues at Nomios as:

Informal, service-oriented and pragmatic.

The most memorable moment so far has been:

A flash mob pop-up BBQ with the company green egg at the end of a working day.

My top piece of career advice is:

Listen and look first, question what you do not understand, keep exploring and being curious about the how, what, who and when and learn from your colleagues and customers.

Service Delivery Manager

Roland

Within Nomios, I am responsible for:

The delivery, overall quality, and continuity of designated customer (support & managed) service contracts. It’s an incredibly versatile role reaching through pretty much the entire Nomios organization. But primarily working closely with customers to achieve the best possible service experience.

I start my mornings with a fresh cup of:

extra strong and extra-large coffee.

The first thing I do when I’m at my computer is:

put on some music.

My typical day looks like:

No day is the same. It’s a variety of customer- and internal meetings, follow up activities, and so on, all aimed towards providing the best service experience possible. To that same end I usually also spend some time analysing potential bottlenecks in the operational processes and providing proposals to mitigate the impact thereof. There’s a lot of freedom in how you organize your day to be the most effective. Nomios presents you with the tools and opportunities you need, it’s up to you to translate that into a success.

The coolest part of my job is:

being able to closely collaborate with customers to ensure they get the most value from their partnership with Infradata is a very rewarding position to be in.

I’d describe the culture at Nomios as:

Pretty informal. Like many IT organizations, the approach is usually pragmatic instead of bureaucratic. That also results in a fairly flat hierarchy and an approachable leadership team.

I’d describe my colleagues at Nomios as:

A very smart, fun, and diverse bunch. In between, there’s a certain drive that connects everyone. Nomios being a company that values self-starting people who dare to take ownership attracts a certain type of person.

The most memorable moment so far has been:

There have been many. It could be one of the times skiing with the team in Hinterglemm Saalbach, the Formula One weekend in Belgium, or any of the infamous Nomios International Sales Summits. During my time at Nomios so far, I’ve been lucky enough to have had many great moments to choose from. So, I won’t.

My top piece of career advice is:

No piece of advice is truly universal, but I can share a personal insight. I’ve always made my career decisions (primarily) based on how much I believed I could learn from them and positively develop myself in that role. Any other goals you might have will then find their way to you eventually!

Security Specialist

Emmon

Within Nomios, I am responsible for:

Security Solution Architecture for our enterprise clients across different verticals.

I help our clients review their IT environment for any cybersecurity gaps, work with them to identify the right solutions, and bring in my expert engineering and managed services colleagues at Infradata to deliver the vision.

Maintaining cybersecurity hygiene for any organization is a never-ending process. That’s why I'm always working to ensure that the technologies we select are strategic and deliver long-term ROI to our clients.

I start my mornings with a fresh cup of:

Home-brewed black coffee! Trying to cut down on sugar this year so wish me luck :-)

The first thing I do when I’m at my computer is:

Check my schedule for the day. I prefer planning for any work engagements two weeks in advance. All phones remain on silent till the end of the day to avoid distractions.

PS: I always try to have zero unread emails at the end of the day! Emails that need detailed responses get flagged for response the next day. This has worked for me for the last 10 years.

My typical day looks like:

Mornings are usually internal meetings with our Account Executives on new opportunities or with clients. I note down action points on my end (I'm still a pen and notebook guy - if it isn't on paper, then it doesn't stick 😊!).

The next couple of hours are spent on client proposals, preparing presentations, and actioning on any pending items for the week.

I'm still getting used to the sun setting at 10 pm during summer, so I'm always cautious not to work till late into the night.

If a cybersecurity assessment for a client is part of the day's agenda, then I'll be locked in a 2-hour workshop doing what I love best: asking all the right questions to help the client avoid the next breach. No two workshops are ever the same, so you must prepare thoroughly!

Some late evenings and after dinner are lab times (tinkering with new tech) to prepare for client demos and for my own curiosity.

The coolest part of my job is:

Technology, technology, technology!

We work with multiple strategic vendors and every day is a chance to learn something new. Plus, we have some of the coolest nerds in NL!

I’d describe the culture at Nomios as:

Amazing so far! I've been with Nomios for the last 7 months and it’s all about self-management - plan your schedule, help out when called upon, and keep the clients happy!

If you're in the office and get a mental block, there's always the pool table to decompress. 😊

I’d describe my colleagues at Nomios as:

Self-starters and really committed to their work.

It's always a pleasure learning something new from engineers, the awesome Marketing team, Account Executives, just to name a few.

Hopefully, I'll learn a lot more once I polish my Dutch (hello Duolingo).

The most memorable moment so far has been:

Moving to the Netherlands in the middle of winter! Then the canals froze. How awesome was that for someone who had never witnessed snow, ever?

My top piece of career advice is:

1. Get a good mentor as you navigate into your field of choice!

2. Lead from the front if the opportunity presents itself - Some of my greatest, and most proud, memories have been mentoring and sharing experiences with young engineering minds.

3. Stay technical, stay relevant!
